Every ZIP Philadelphia is a community-based project creating a portrait of Philadelphia through the stories that people tell about their lives. Through written and verbal stories, photos and events, we want to give Philadelphia residents a chance to see and hear each other in new ways; to expand the definition of what it means to be a Philadelphian and deepen connections with neighbors in the City of Brotherly Love.
We're inviting the public to join Every ZIP Philadelphia at ART SANCTUARY (628 S 16th St, Philadelphia, PA) for an evening of live storytelling, music, and other presentations from the project.
Live storytellers include:
- Councilwoman Helen Gym
- 2014-15 Philadelphia poet laureate Frank Sherlock
- Black Tribbles Podcaster Kennedy Allen
- Poet Kirwyn Sutherland
- CeaseFire PA Organizer Fred Pinguel
- Activist CJ Smith
They'll be telling stories on the theme "Boundaries". This could be interpreted as: the divide between people, places, or ZIP codes; invisible divisions; turf wars; obstacles overcome; lines crossed.
Live music will be provided by Philly-based jazz trio Counted Conscious. Light hors d' oeuvres by Salt, Pepper, & Soul. Photographs by Mighty Writers. There will also be video presentations from the Every ZIP Philadelphia project. WHYY's Neema Roshania will host the evening's events.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. Storytelling & presentations begin at 7:30 PM.
